Advent Series – Week 3: Love in Action

As we enter the third week of Advent, we reflect on love in action. Love isn’t static; it’s a profound force that propels people to extend compassion to neighbours, those in need, and the marginalized.

At Opportunity International Canada, we witness love in action every day—through the generosity of our community and the shared belief that everyone deserves an opportunity to thrive, with dignity and purpose. This love finds its way into communities around the world, igniting hope and opportunity where they’re needed most.

A tangible expression of love

This season, I’m reminded of two inspiring individuals who embody love in action: P.L. and Kristen Meindertsma. Longtime friends and supporters of OIC, P.L. and Kristen have set out on a journey that is as bold as it is transformative. Through their Cycle 5 to Survive initiative, they’re cycling across five continents, raising $500,000 for five chosen charities. OIC is honored to be among the causes they’re riding for. This journey is a testament to their deep commitment to empowering individuals through entrepreneurship, education, and sport.

Their journey connects them to people of all backgrounds, creating a bridge of understanding and compassion across diverse cultures. Along the way, they’re proving that a single act driven by love is a powerful catalyst, transforming lives with each mile they cover. This isn’t just an adventure; it’s a legacy in the making, woven with compassion and an unwavering commitment to others.

P.L. and Kristen’s story beautifully illustrates how love in action can make a world of difference.
