Lenore, Dominican Republic

Lenore, a single mother, raised her four children alone. To provide for them, she came up with a plan to sell Johnny Cakes to factory workers. Despite concerns from her neighbors, she built a customer base and was eventually asked for empanadas and fruit juice. However, without a refrigerator, she couldn't fulfill customer demand. Fortunately, a friend told her about ASPIRE and the Aspiring Together Women's Groups leasing program.

Byron, Nicaragua

In 2019, Byron found himself unemployed and turn to ASODENIC for a loan as he was determined to start a business. As his business grew, he pursued further loans to diversify. Today, in addition to groceries, he sells a wide range of products, including bookstore items, hardware, and clothing. Byron's business is thriving and he has more plans to continue to develop it.

Senayda, Honduras

Senayda and her husband earned an income by renting vehicles for their taxi service from others, but they dreamed of owning their own. She sought loans from traditional banking providers but was denied. Then, one day her life took a pivotal turn when she was introduced to IDH, our implementing partner in Honduras.
