The Itinerary

Monday, February 1 — Arrival in Santo Domingo 

  • Arrivals into Santo Domingo (SDQ) or alternatively, Punta Cana (PUJ) with a transfer to Santo Domingo 
  • Check in to the hotel in the Ciudad Colonial, the oldest European-founded city in the Americas 
  • Welcome dinner at hotel and trip orientation 

Tuesday, February 2 — Meet the Team, Meet the Clients 

  • Morning with the ASPIRE team  
  • Visit a school 
  • Afternoon with a youth savings group — young people gaining financial confidence and building brighter futures 
  • Guided walking tour of the Colonial Zone 
  • Dinner at Buche Perico in the Colonial Zone 

Wednesday, February 3 — Into the Barrios 

  • School visits  
  • Ride the Santo Domingo cable car for a view from above of some of the neighbourhoods we serve 
  • Rooftop dinner at Ristorante Angelo in Plaza España 

Thursday, February 4 — Closing Reflections 

  • Travel out to Monte Plata for a morning visit to schools supported through EduFin  
  • Afternoon free time in the Colonia Zone 
  • Group reflection on the week 
  • Farewell dinner at Pat’e Palo in Plaza España 

Friday, February 5 — Departures 

  • Breakfast at the hotel and scheduled transfers to Santo Domingo (SDQ) and Punta Cana (PUJ) 

Cost: $1500/person

  • Airport pick-up and drop-off in Santo Domingo, and all in-country ground transportation 
  • Transfers to and from Punta Cana can be arranged through OIC but must be paid directly to the transportation company in cash at the time of travel 
  • All meals throughout the trip 
  • All programme visits, activities and translation 

Participants book and pay for their own international flights. OIC holds the hotel block; participants settle their room account on location.
