A post–International Development Week policy dialogue on moving beyond awareness toward catalytic finance and system-level impact.
We are pleased to invite you to a small, design-charette-style discussion focused on innovative financing approaches to address persistent global education funding gaps.
Despite important gains over recent decades, many low- and middle-income countries continue to face significant financing constraints that limit access to high-quality, equitable education. At the same time, increasing pressure on official development assistance underscores the need for practical approaches that can complement public funding. This session will provide space to explore how catalytic grants, policy-aligned capital, and blended finance approaches might help mobilize additional resources for education while strengthening systems and protecting equity and quality.
The discussion will focus on practical ways that innovative financing mechanisms can:
Mobilize additional capital for education
Strengthen national education systems
Support quality, equity, and inclusion
Align with Canadian policy and funding priorities
This is not a conference or presentation-based event. The emphasis will be on focused dialogue, shared learning, and identifying concrete opportunities for collaboration. Chatham house rules will apply.
Breakout discussions will explore themes such as:
Girls’ education and gender-responsive financing
Education in fragile and refugee-hosting contexts
Education quality and learning outcomes
Women-led education enterprises
Climate-resilient education infrastructure
Strengthening the education-to-jobs pipeline
