Opportunity International Canada

It is with profound sadness that I announce the passing of David Stiller, who peacefully entered eternal rest on Friday, June 14, 2024, in London, Ontario, at the age of 86.

David was not only a beloved husband, father, and grandfather but also a visionary leader whose impact extended far beyond his immediate circle. His journey was marked by significant milestones and profound challenges, which inspired him and his wife Evelyn to found Opportunity International Canada in 1998.

Under David’s steadfast leadership, this organization grew to become a cornerstone of microfinance in Canada and a respected member of the Opportunity International global network.

His commitment to empowering individuals and families to break the cycle of poverty through entrepreneurship resonated deeply with colleagues and partners across the globe.

Beyond his professional achievements, David was known for his unwavering faith. His legacy of compassion, generosity, and faithfulness to God’s calling will continue to inspire and guide us.

David’s life reminds us of the importance of seizing every opportunity to make a positive impact on those around us. His legacy will continue to shape and enrich our work at Opportunity International Canada and beyond.

On behalf of the Opportunity International Canada board and staff, we extend our heartfelt condolences to his beloved wife Evelyn, his son Rod (Michele), and his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

With deepest sympathy,

Dan Murray
President & CEO
