Meet Zinabu

Microfinance Client, Ghana

In the heart of Tamale, Ghana, Zinabu Abu stands as an example of resilience, hard work, and the power of community support. For over 20 years, Zinabu has not only built a successful life for herself but has also uplifted countless others around her. Her journey, driven by determination and backed by Sinapi Aba, demonstrates her deep commitment to making a difference.

Zinabu’s entrepreneurial spirit showed early on. Originally from Upper East, she moved to Tamale and started by selling sachet water. With a vision to own a restaurant, she took her first loan of 40 Cedi from Sinapi Aba. Using this support, she began selling light soup and drinks, gradually expanding her offerings. Her business grew into a popular restaurant, known for its delicious meals and welcoming atmosphere. It became a favourite spot for students and professionals, providing Zinabu with hope and a steady income.

Encouraged by her restaurant’s success, Zinabu aimed even higher: building a guesthouse. Despite the challenges, she completed the guesthouse within two years, furnishing it with TVs, beds, and other necessities. Today, her guesthouse has 28 rooms, including four in the boys’ quarters, and is consistently fully booked, proving that hard work and faith can lead to great achievements.

Zinabu’s vision doesn’t stop at her guesthouse. Her next goal is to build an orphanage to provide education and support for children who lack these opportunities. Already, she supports around 40 orphans, showing her deep commitment to giving back to her community. Her passion for helping orphans comes from her own tough childhood, where she faced many challenges and was raised by her aunt. This personal history drives her to ensure that others get the support she once needed.

Zinabu’s husband speaks highly of her incredible work ethic and vision. He describes her as more than just one person—she’s a powerhouse with a passion for helping others. Her dedication to keeping her business going, despite the modest income from the restaurant, shows her commitment to providing opportunities for those in need.

Zinabu’s journey is closely tied to the support of Sinapi Aba. She expresses deep gratitude for their help, which has been key to her success. Her story is a powerful reminder of how community support and personal determination can create ripples of positive change.

Zinabu Abu’s story is one of inspiration, resilience, and the power of community. From selling sachet water to running a thriving restaurant and guesthouse, Zinabu’s journey shows the impact of hard work and support.
