Help fuel the journey out of poverty with hope and opportunity.

Amid Colombia's beauty and vibrant culture, lies a harsh reality - ultra-poverty. Ultra-poverty households tend to be headed by women. Often socially excluded, they lack opportunities to build better lives for themselves. Without extra support and training in life-skills, these families remain trapped in the cycle of poverty.

But that's where your support and Agape's Pathway to Opportunity Graduation Program comes in. The 18-month program, provides women with:

  • Social protection

    Throughout the program, women receive home visits to help identify needs and barriers to overcoming poverty.

  • Social empowerment

    Including training in life skills and psychosocial support.

  • Support towards building a sustainable livelihood

    The program provides training, support, and a monthly stipend to help establish a sustainable livelihood.

  • Financial literacy and inclusion

    Education, savings groups, and local credit methodology increases financial literacy and inclusion among women.

A gift that changed everything for Yovanis....

Yovanis’ is a single mother who is determined to provide a better life for her children despite the numerous challenges she has faced. She cares for her three children, including a son with special needs, in a remote Cartagena community on a hilltop.

One day while climbing a rugged trail, she encountered an Agape Outreach team – a pivotal moment that would change the course of her life. Through Agape’s Pathway to Opportunity Graduation Program, she is receiving the financial support and training needed to build a better life for her family.

Yovanis is on her way to running a sustainable business, and dreams of opening a store, “The Rooftop Lagoon”. She also has plans to ensure her son receives the necessary medical care, including an operation.

Her story is a testament to the power of hope and opportunity made possible through your generous support.

How will my gift be used?

Your donation on #GivingTuesday 2024 will help families in Colombia, trapped in poverty, build better lives for themselves.

Should we meet our program goal in Colombia, the remaining restricted donations will be used where most needed.

How does the match work?

Thanks to one of our generous partners, all gifts up to $30,000 will be matched. This gives you the opportunity to double your impact when you give to Opportunity International Canada’s Giving Tuesday campaign.

Is my donation tax deductible?

Opportunity International Canada is a registered charity in Canada (#87751 6385 RR0001). Donations generate charitable tax receipts in accordance with Canada Revenue Agency guidelines (canada.ca/charities-giving). 

Your gift will be receipted in early 2024. If you have any questions about your gift or require an immediate receipt, please email connect@opportunityinternational.ca.

Is my donation and personal information secure?

Blackbaud processes your donation on behalf of Opportunity International Canada. To protect your credit card information, when used according to manufacturer’s instructions, Blackbaud:
  • Encrypts personal and credit card information during all transactions.
  • Sends an automated confirmation email for all transactions.

 

When making an online donation, your credit card information is not stored and we will not share your personal identity outside of our organization.

Do I receive a charitable receipt for my donation?

Charitable tax receipts are distributed annually in early February for the previous year. If you have any questions about your gift or require an immediate receipt, please email connect@opportunityinternational.ca.
