From Joblessness to Livelihood: A Future for 750 Youth in Ghana

Project Timeline:
2025 to 2027

OIC Goal:
$624,000 over three years

In Ghana, nearly 40 percent of youth are unemployed, and without vocational training, their futures remain uncertain. Sinapi Aba’s Youth Apprenticeship Program (YAP), supported by Opportunity International Canada, is addressing this crisis by matching 800 vulnerable youth (Yappies) with 400 trained mentors (Trade Masters) for a three year, state certified apprenticeship that leads to either sustainable businesses or careers.

Youth receive practical skills, tools of their trade, health insurance, transportation support, financial and social education, and emotional care. At the end of the program, they graduate with recognised certification and access to interest free start up loans. Trade Masters also gain coaching to strengthen their training and business mentorship capacity—amplifying impact.

By investing in youth today, we break the cycle of poverty for generations. With your support, 7,200 people, including apprentices, their families, and mentors, will take powerful steps toward stability, dignity, and independence.
