Travelling to Nicaragua
Entry and Exit Requirements

Every country or territory decides who can enter or exit through its borders. The Government of Canada cannot intervene on your behalf if you do not meet your destination’s requirements. We have obtained the following information from Nicaraguan authorities. It can, however, change at any time.

Entering Nicaragua – very important
Upon entering Nicaragua, please mention “Tourism” as your reason for visiting and provide the name and address for the Globales Camino Real (Km. 9.5 Carretera Norte, Managua, Nicaragua,+505- 2255-5888). Do not mention you are a donor visiting an NGO.

Passport
Entry requirements vary depending on the type of passport you use for travel. Before you travel, check with your transportation provider about passport requirements. Airlines rules on passport validity may be more stringent than the visiting country’s entry rules.

Regular Canadian Passport
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond the date you expect to leave Nicaragua.

Other Travel Documents
Different entry rules may apply when traveling with a temporary passport or an emergency travel document, check with a foreign representative if needed.

Visas
Canadians do not require a visa for stays of up to 90 days.

Travel Insurance
All participants are required to have comprehensive travel insurance that includes international medical evacuation coverage. This is essential to ensure your safety in the event of a medical emergency while abroad. If your current insurance provider does not offer this service, we recommend Global Rescue, which specializes in international evacuation and travel support for our trip participants.
