Youth Apprenticeship Program
Out-of-school and at-risk youth in Ghana are matched with skilled mentors who teach them a trade, provide hands-on experience, and help them build a pathway to independence and income.
Education Finance & Quality
Families access school fee loans so their children can stay enrolled, even when income is seasonal. At the same time, school proprietors receive training and capital to improve infrastructure and quality of education.
Youth Savings Groups
Children and youth learn to save, budget, and plan for their future. They gain financial literacy and confidence that lasts a lifetime.

Jocelyn’s story: A dream rekindled
At just 12 years old, Jocelyn had to leave school. With five children to support, her mother couldn’t afford the fees—and Jocelyn stayed home to care for her younger siblings while her mother worked. Her dream of becoming a fashion designer slowly faded into the background.
For years, every day was a struggle to survive, not to dream. But then everything changed.
Jocelyn was introduced to Opportunity’s local partner in Ghana and joined the Youth Apprenticeship Program. She was matched with Helen, a skilled dressmaker who became her mentor. With Helen’s guidance, Jocelyn learned how to measure, cut, sew, and finish garments—building real skills, confidence, and a sense of purpose.
Today, Jocelyn is thriving. She’s on her way to becoming the designer she once only dreamed of being.
