"Aiming for the Stars" was the theme for the evening as 45 people joined together for dinner to learn more about the work of Opportunity. The theme resonated with the location which was the Human Rights Museum in Winnipeg.
Izzy Asper, the visionary behind the creation of the Museum was often quoted to say, that “Canadians have a tendency to aim for the middle, not the top, but here, in this place we are aiming for the stars.” Appropriate words for the location chosen and the theme for the evening which was Eradicating Extreme Poverty.
We were inspired by the motivation story shared by the founding Chairman, David Stiller, and then intrigued with the new challenge given by Larry Reed, former CEO of the Opportunity Global Network. We all left the event motivated and committed to be involved in the goal to eradicate poverty by 2030.
We are looking forward to growing deeper roots in Manitoba as our friends and deepened relationships play a significant role in allowing us to “reach for the stars” and make poverty history.
