Be inspired by dynamic duo Geraldo Orozco from the Dominican Republic and Stephen Verhoeff from Calgary. These social innovators and entrepreneurs are helping to drive positive change through microfinance in Latin America. 

Geraldo Orozco - CEO Aspire

Geraldo has been CEO of ASPIRE since 2000. ASPIRE is a Christian financial institution which offers microcredit in the Dominican Republic. Opportunity International Canada and ASPIRE have been in partnership for over 15 years. Geraldo has a Masters Degree in Marketing from INTEC University and a Law degree from UTESA, both universities based in Santo Domingo. Geraldo is also an Assistant Pastor at Prince of Peace Mennonite Church in Santo Domingo and is regularly invited to speak at national and international conferences on topics such as Leadership, Microfinance and Theology.

Since 1987 Geraldo has been married to an accomplished educator, Rita Esther Melo. They have three daughters.

Stephen Verhoeff - President, CanWest Flooring Ltd. 

With over 30 years of business experience, Stephen is an entrepreneur who is currently involved in ownership and leadership at Advance Flooring, Canwest Flooring and Trading Post Brewery. In all of these businesses, he assumes responsibility for strategic growth, acquisitions, recruitment and financial stewardship. Stephen was the founder and past CEO of Hemisphere GPS, a TSX-listed corporation. He was also responsible for growing Hemisphere GPS for over 15 years; a public company that employed 350 employees and $50 million sales. In 1986 Stephen received his Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Calgary.

Stephen and his wife, Joyce, live in Calgary and have three beautiful daughters. He has served and continues to serve in several charitable organizations as follows Covenant Christian Reformed Church: Elder; Trinity Christian School, Long Range Planning committee and Promise Keepers Canada, Board member.
