MicroVenture Philanthropists Insight Trip
Join Us in 2018
At Opportunity, we are passionate about transforming lives around the globe. We host Insight Trips so we can share with you, our monthly partners, the hope, gratitude and excitement we experience every time we are in the field with clients working hard to achieve their goals.
Insight Trips are safe, eye-opening and unforgettable adventures that are authentic to each host country. You’ll spend time with experts in the field and local hosts who know the culture inside and out—their personal perspective will give you an intimate understanding of the culture and how we work alongside our clients to make significant and lasting changes. You’ll witness how our clients are rising out of poverty and transforming their lives.
So come journey with us to Nicaragua. We take care of all the details to ensure it will be an adventure unlike any other—one that will change you forever.
This trip is open to all MicroVenutre Philanthropist's (donors who give monthly to the work of Opportunity International Canada).
Seeing the real Nicaragua
Nicaragua is home to great beauty and passion. This Central American country possesses the natural beauty of both Pacific and Caribbean coasts, majestic volcanoes and a rich culture best known for its marimba music and warm hospitality.
Nicaragua’s economy is primarily focused on the agricultural sector. Despite ongoing effects of the Contra War in the 1980s, several recessions and natural disasters, a new sense of pride and confidence is driving Nicaragua’s farmers and artisans toward progress. Even though Nicaragua remains one of the poorest countries in Central America, this sense of hope is inspiring its youth to learn how to support their families by starting income-generating businesses.
Opportunity Nicaragua has been working for over 20 years servicing poor entrepreneurs with loans and training in 12 cities. Currently, they are in the process of building their capacity and operations so they can serve over 12,000 clients. Travel with us to experience firsthand how Nicaragua is being built up and renewed day by day.
